In the first part of the program, Liszt’s First Mephisto Waltz, Hungarian Rhapsody from 6, Two Liebestraums, or Dreams of Love and virtuoso etudes. In the second part, religious, pastoral and love compositions from the cycle “Years of Wanderings” or “Years of Pilgrimage” will be played.

Pianist Andrejs Osokin’s new concert program is a tribute to composer Franz Liszt – his work, personality and life. Liszt – virtuoso, lover, philosopher, monk, priest, thinker, romantic and tragic hero – these are just some of the facets of his personality that characterize the composer’s complicated life.

Liszt is one of the main composers and virtuosos of 19th century piano music. He was born in Hungary, but the paths of life took Liszt to countless places in Europe – Germany, France, Switzerland, Italy and others. Like Liszt’s life, so his work is permeated by the theme of wanderings, which will be one of the cornerstones of this concert program and which is most vividly revealed in one of Liszt’s main works – the cycle “Years of Wanderings”.

Although he was well-loved in society, Liszt stopped performing and devoted himself exclusively to composing. He later became a Catholic priest and lived a very reclusive life. At the end of his life, Liszt was a piano teacher, training a whole generation of pianists, including several Latvian pianists.

In the first part of the program, Liszt’s First Mephisto Waltz, Hungarian Rhapsody from 6, Two Liebestraums, or Dreams of Love and virtuoso etudes. In the second part, religious, pastoral and love compositions from the cycle “Years of Wanderings” or “Years of Pilgrimage” will be played.

Pianist Andrejs Osokin’s new concert program is a tribute to composer Franz Liszt – his work, personality and life. Liszt – virtuoso, lover, philosopher, monk, priest, thinker, romantic and tragic hero – these are just some of the facets of his personality that characterize the composer’s complicated life.

Liszt is one of the main composers and virtuosos of 19th century piano music. He was born in Hungary, but the paths of life took Liszt to countless places in Europe – Germany, France, Switzerland, Italy and others. Like Liszt’s life, so his work is permeated by the theme of wanderings, which will be one of the cornerstones of this concert program and which is most vividly revealed in one of Liszt’s main works – the cycle “Years of Wanderings”.

The concert program is designed as a musical conversation between two outstanding personalities – the German baroque genius, master of polyphony, Johann Sebastian Bach, and contemporary American cult composer, minimalist Philip Glass. The initiators of this exciting conversation are two laureates of the Grand Music Prize – the talented saxophonist Aigars Raumanis and the experienced music director of Riga Cathedral and the Cathedral’s organist Aigars Reinis. Along with Bach’s organ preludes, Glass’s solo saxophone melodies written for the show “Prisoner of Love” and his world-famous organ piece “Mad Rush” will be played. The two excellent playing partners have also created covers of several works especially for this program, including fragments from Bach’s Oboe Concerto, as well as Glass’s Viol Sonata and Viol Concerto in new timbres. Listeners will be surprised and addressed by hypnotizing soundscapes, swirling rhythms and energizing harmonies, comforting revelations and timeless beauty.

What child these days hasn’t eaten chocolate? But in ancient times it was different. The main character of “Chocolate Fairy Tales”, the girl Hanna, experiences the wonderful taste and smell of chocolate only in her dreams. But what events took place in the old days in Vienna, the capital of Austria, you will find out by listening to the concert performance “The Chocolate Fairy”.

The performance will feature Little Sugar – Ventis Zilberts, piano; the The Sacher-Torte Cake master – Nauris Indzeris, voice; Chocolate Fairy – Dita Krenberg, flute; Vanilla – Jolanta Strikaite, voice. A literary-musical composition by Gundars Āboliņš and Andrejs Osokins, in which music and poetry, the sound of the piano and the human voice form a dialogue that leaves a unique impression on the audience.

In its first part, piano music by Ukrainian and Latvian composers will be played, interspersed with poetry from the new collection “Unplayed Texts” by musician and emotion collector Ainārs Knešs. Singer Alice Kante and her quartet of accompanying musicians invite you to listen to the musical masterpieces of the 70s, playing the hit program of the legendary duo "The Carpenters" in a new jazz arrangement.

To complement the romantic mood of the concert, other sweet compositions of the 70s and 80s in a jazz mood, as well as original songs, will be played.

On 8 March, the Baltic Beach Hotel & SPA will transform into Barbieland for the hottest party of the spring season. The painter Ivonna Zīle (1980) says about her exhibition "Woman and the Sea": "I have realised that the changeability and beauty of the sea has an unlimited range of colours, textures and moods. When painting the sea and trying to get closer to it, women involuntarily came into my vision. Those who were by my side and those who simply caught my eye. I was looking for my female counterparts, for my female belonging, observing them and at the same time observing myself. What is a woman thinking when she looks at the horizon, when she wades through the heavy sand and breathes in the sea air, when she hears the sound of the waves and the whisper of the wind?"

Ivonna Zīle's work involves painting abstract compositions, experimenting with acrylic and different media, expanding the possibilities of acrylic painting, as well as working with stylistic issues and the transformation of landscape into abstraction, drawing on her plein air experience.

 In the exhibition "Neighbouring Windows", the master of textile art Inese Jakobi (1949) presents her series "Neighbouring Windows". For the artist, the window is a metaphor for a bridge or perhaps a border between the indoors and the outdoors, between personality and society. The works are made from clothes that were once coveted, used, then discarded as no longer useful. Inese Jakobi I use it as a reminder - nothing goes anywhere, everything accumulates and once reminds us of our thoughts, deeds and non-deeds.

"We are all neighbours, near or far. Each with its own understanding, rhythm and form of life. How to live side by side on the same land ? For me, the window is a metaphor for a bridge or, on the contrary, a border between inside and outside, between the personality and society."

The exhibition "Red Door" by painter Inga Jurova (1972) is deeply personal and at the same time sheds light not only on her generation, but also on the feelings of society. The exhibition presents two closely related themes - the artist's family and Moscow Forstadt. A family photo album is a microcosm of history, an archive of images and stories drawn from memories. The second series is about Moscow Forstadt, which "I inherited from my father", says Inga Jurova. The artist idealises her birthplace, depicting the Maskachka apartment building as an 18th-century manor house - from a distant vantage point, surrounded by leaves in the foreground.
