The exhibition reveals the connection between creative thought, expressed through the materiality of glass, and the intangible influence of cultural heritage.
The exhibition consists of two main groups of artworks: installations by Inguna Audere and Michael Rogers (IRMA Collaborative) – philosophically meditative glass installations and two-dimensional compositions. They reflect the idea of human interaction and conversations that encourage cooperation. The works were created, both inspired by literary classics and involving artists from other fields – in collaboration with fashion designer Māras Bindi, textile products were involved in the creation of the installation Conversation. A specially designed glass composition is a tribute to the personality of Kārlis Cinats.
The second group of artworks is the contemporary glass art collection Glass Feeling from the Līvāni Glass and Crafts Center. Here are represented professionals of different generations who, honoring and inspired by the heritage of Latvian glass art, have implemented their ideas in one of the oldest methods – blown glass technique right here in the Līvāni glass workshop in collaboration with masters Aleksandrs Logvins and Ivars Āboltiņš.
The group is made up of: Līvāni glass factory artists Ludmila Safronova, Aīda Rotčenkova, Herberts Erbs, artists Dainis Gudovskis, Juris Dunovskis, Remigijus Kriukas, Vineta Groza, Ilze Dūdiņa, Inguna Audere, Inita Ēmane, Anda Munkevica, Marta Ģibiete, Ineta Pudža, Agnese Gedule, Baiba Dzenīte, Anna Varnase-Heinsberga, Ieva Birģele, Renāte Zeimule-Herca, Kārlis Bogustovs, Dāvis Vaivads. Some of the authors are closely connected with art education in Latvia.
Exhibition curator: Dr.art. prof. Inguna Audere (Latvian Academy of Arts and IRMA Collaborative).
