National rehabilitation centre “Vaivari”

With a mission to support people with functional impairments in regaining independence and living a dignified life, the National Rehabilitation Centre “Vaivari” provides comprehensive, multidisciplinary medical rehabilitation. One of its key areas of activity is post-acute (second-stage) rehabilitation, aimed at reducing functional limitations caused by illness or injury.

The centre operates several inpatient rehabilitation departments, while services are also available on an outpatient and day-care basis. Patients have access to a wide range of services, including hydrotherapy, therapeutic horseback riding, and consultations with doctors and other specialists.

Expanding health recovery opportunities in Jūrmala, the NRC “Vaivari” has opened a modern outpatient rehabilitation centre that brings together a clinic, physiotherapy, and orthotics and prosthetics services in one place. It also features the most advanced orthopaedic aids workshop in Latvia, offering patients a faster, more convenient recovery by combining treatment, technology, and a team of highly qualified specialists.

NRC “Vaivari” is the only rehabilitation institution in Latvia that offers patients access to the latest robotic technologies. These include the LokomatPro gait training robot with the FreeD system, which simulates natural walking patterns; the EksoGT exoskeleton, which enables patients with lower-limb impairments to stand and walk; and MiraRehab virtual reality solutions that enhance patient motivation and engagement in the rehabilitation process.

While modern technologies significantly improve rehabilitation effectiveness, the true strength of “Vaivari” lies in its highly professional and dedicated medical team, for whom helping patients is more than just a job.
