Celebration of Meteņi

In the spirit of ancient traditions, the traditional Latvian festival Meteņi and the Slavic festival Maslenitsa will be celebrated in Jūrmala, thus saying goodbye to winter and welcoming spring. Easter

Easter in Jūrmala is celebrated in several places, offering a diverse programme of activities based on Latvian traditions. On April 12, Jūrmala Open Air Museum offers celebrating Easter in the traditional fishermen’s farmstead. Participation in the events will be free of charge.

Running races of various distances, sporting activities throughout the day for both adults and children.

International Academic Music Competition Jūrmala 2020
The competition will feature around 60 young pianists, judged by an international jury. One of the highlights of the competition will be the opportunity for the second-round winners to perform with a chamber orchestra. Conductor Normunds Vaicis will be the conductor of this year’s closing concert as well as the artistic director of the chamber orchestra.Admission to the concerts is free.

International Organ Music Festival VOX ANGELICA

PROCLAMATION DAY OF THE REPUBLIC OF LATVIA
Latvia’s birthday party in Jūrmala is traditionally opened with the Road of Light, which illuminates the city’s main road from the Lielupe Bridge in Bulduri to Ķemeri. Everyone is invited to place a lit candle on the side of the main street to create a warm, festive atmosphere in the city.
