European Junior Cup in Triathlon

This Saturday, August 29, a large-scale international triathlon competition will take place in Jurmala at the Dzintari Concert Hall – the European Junior Cup, in which a hundred triathletes from more than 20 countries, including North American and African countries, will participate.  

For many years, the European Junior Cup was held in the capital, but this year Jurmala will host it for the first time.

This international competition will bring together young triathletes from 22 different countries of the world. Since the stages of the European Junior Cup are also open to athletes from other continents, this year in Jurmala participants will start not only from Europe, but also strong young athletes from such distant countries as Namibia, Zimbabwe, South Africa and Canada.

The first competition will be started by junior girls, who will start at 9:00, but at 11:00 the junior boys will go to the distance. Latvia has better chances in the junior competition, where one of the favorites will be the 15th place winner of the World Junior Championship and the best Latvian triathlete Beāte Jansone, who will also be the best by rating. Along with the prestigious junior cup, local competitions will also take place within the framework of the event — the 8th stage of the Latvian Triathlon Cup or the Jurmala triathlon for age groups, which will start at 13:00.
