Explore Ķemeri Resort Park – now with an audio guide!

Ķemeri Resort Park is one of Latvia’s most picturesque and historically significant parks. Now, thanks to a new initiative by the Jūrmala tourism website Visitjurmala.lv in collaboration with Audiogids.lv, it is possible to explore the park more deeply through an audio guide available in Latvian, English, and Lithuanian. The guide offers a rich narrative about the park’s history, architecture, and the people who shaped it.

The audio guides are voiced by well-known professionals – in Latvian and English by Valdis Čirksts, a Latvian actor based in the United States, and in Lithuanian by Gintaras Gudas, a musician and cultural events host.

The guide takes listeners through the story of the park’s formation, beginning in 1839, and highlights its importance in the history of Latvian resort culture. Along the way, it introduces the park’s most remarkable landmarks: the romantic Love Island rotunda, the grand Ķemeri Hotel with its ornamental garden, the sulphur water spring “Lizard”, the Orthodox Church of Saints Peter and Paul, the “Folk Dance” sculpture, and the Ķemeri Water Tower, where visitors can climb to enjoy a panoramic view of the surrounding landscape.

In addition to these eight stops in the park, the audio guide includes a special segment on the historical exhibition “Notable People in Ķemeri. Six Life Stories”, located in the water tower. These stories bring to life the contributions of six outstanding individuals – doctors, an architect, a pastor, and a poet – who shaped the development of Ķemeri over more than a century and a half.
