TrekTours Ķemeri Hike in Jūrmala

TrekTours Ķemeri Hike in Jūrmala

Jūrmala, together with the largest long-distance hiking organisers TrekTours, invites you to take the first steps towards spring. Although the intention to become more active is often associated with the beginning of the year, in reality, the body awakens together with nature when outdoor movement becomes possible again. The Ķemeri Hike on 7 March is one of the simplest and safest ways to begin physical activity, as walking is a medically recommended cardio exercise suitable even for beginners.

Participants can choose the most suitable distance: 9, 15, 27 or 37 km. The circular routes lead through the diverse landscape of Ķemeri National Park, from the resort park environment to the Baltic Sea coast, crossing bog ecosystems with moss bogs, shallow lagoon lakes, wet black alder forests and marshy meadows that host rare species in Latvia.

9 km route
A short, scenic introduction to the hiking experience, featuring viewpoints at the Ķemeri Water Tower – where the first viewing platform at 12 metres will be open to visitors – and at the Sloka Lake tower, followed by a peaceful walk along the Black Alder Swamp Boardwalk and Sloka Lake trail.

15 km route
A balanced combination of nature and resort history – Ķemeri Resort Park, sulphur springs, the Green Dune, the Vidzeme–Kurzeme boundary stone, finishing at the urban landmark “Ķemeru Anniņa”.

27 km route
A wider loop from bog landscapes to the Gulf of Riga coast, including Sloka Lake, Melnezers, Lapmežciems, a bird-watching tower, the Kaņieris reed trail and the Green Dune.

37 km route
A full panorama of Ķemeri landscapes for experienced hikers – Sloka Lake, Melnezers, Starpiņupe sluices, Ragaciems Lighthouse, bird-watching towers, Kaņieris reeds, the Green Dune, the boundary stone and the final stop at “Ķemeru Anniņa”.
