Winter Mood Concerts and Festive Events in Jūrmala
Jūrmala invites you to enjoy the pre-holiday time by visiting Christmas mood concerts in Dubulti Church, Dzintari Concert Hall, Jūrmala Culture Centre and Dubulti Concert Hall. You are also welcome to attend Christmas and New Year celebration events in the city in a circle of family and friends.
Mood Concerts in Jūrmala Concert Halls
In the Dubulti Church (Baznīcas iela 13), several festive concerts will take place. On December 18, 19:00, you will be greeted by Jānis Paukštello, Antra Ozola, Ineta Rudzīte un Māris Trankalis at the concert “Ziemassvētku starojums” (“Chrismas Glow”). Concert tickets can be purchased at “Biļešu paradīze” and “Biļešu serviss” ticket offices.
On December 21, 17:00, everyone is invited to sing Christmas songs in Dubulti Church together with Ilona Bengele, Jūrmala city choirs and brass ensemble in the concert “Iedziedi Ziemassvētkus” (“Sing for Christmas”). Entrance free of charge.
For the end of this year and the beginning of the new one, the Dzintari Concert Hall (Turaidas iela 1) invites you to eleven “Christmas Festival” concerts, which will take place from December 13 until January 7. Jūrmala Secondary School of Music, the Dubulti Concert Hall (Strēlnieku prospekts 30) will also host a series of Christmas mood concerts. On December 14, 18:30, Raimonds Ozols, Raimonds Macats and the students of Jūrmala Secondary School of Music will perform in the concert “Sidraba stīgas” (“Silver Threads”). On December 21, 15:30, Rihards Dubra's “Ziemassvētku kantāte” (“Christmas Cantata”) will be performed by the choir of the Bank of Latvia, mixed choir of Tume, women's choir of Culture house of Tukums city “Noktirne” and Young Musicians Orchestra conducted by Kaspars Vēvers. Entrance free of charge.
On December 30, 17:00, in the Jūrmala Culture Centre (Jomas iela 35), an end of year concert will be held with Inga Bērziņa (solo), brass band “Jūrmala”, men's choir “Burinieks” and mixed choir “Vaivari”. Entrance free of charge.
Celebrating The Arrival of Christmas
A Christmas event will take place on December 22, from 16:00 to 18:00, at the Kauguri Culture House (Raiņa iela 110). Christmas songs will be performed by Beāte Meldere and the musical association “Beta”, and guests can enjoy songs and games with Santa Claus and his friends and a musical performance “Labākais Ziemassvētku vecītis” (“The Best Santa Claus”). The event's visitors can also participate in creative workshops or creating an ice sculpture.
Creative workshops and activities for families with children in the Park of Lights.
Every Saturday and Sunday in December and also on January 1, from 16:00 to 19:00, creative workshops, games, and other activities for families with children will take place in the Park of Lights (Dzintari Forest Park). In the creative workshops visitors can melt and pour tin, decorate gingerbread cookies and in separate dates there will also be a young carpenter's workshop, where children can make an ornament for their Christmas tree together with parents. There will be games, sand drawing and other activities, such as trying out floorball and disc golf. During the creative workshops visitors can also buy a variety of treats, such as waffles and pancakes, and enjoy a warm drink or a delicious soup.
Let's meet the New Year together
As every year, the city of Jūrmala invites you to meet the New Year together, in a circle of friends and loved ones. On December 31, from 23:00 to 01:00, you are welcome to participate in an event at the Kauguri Culture House. Guests can sing winter songs together, enjoy the music by The New Year's Orchestra and watch festive fireworks. Everyone is welcome to attend in masks: the most interesting masks will receive a surprise prize.
