More to Experience on the Day of the Ķemeri Festival

Sunrise in the Bog Landscape

A day in Ķemeri can begin even before the festival awakens. At 4.00 a.m., visitors can set out to experience sunrise in the Great Ķemeri Bog. Advaita Adventures invites participants to greet the sun from a SUP board or boat, gliding quietly across the mirror-like surface of a bog lake. The atmosphere can also be extended into the early hours of the following day, 19 July, when Ozolaivas will offer a sunrise boat trip at 3.50 a.m. through the flooded peat quarry channels and islands on the eastern edge of the Great Ķemeri Bog. Morning mist, reflections on the water and the profound stillness of the bog lend the landscape an almost surreal quality. Both experiences offer a remarkably atmospheric and intimate way to witness sunrise in nature.

The Atmosphere of a Historic Spa Park

The festival day is also an opportunity to explore the historic park itself, one of Latvia’s most visually distinctive spa parks. Its winding paths along the River Vēršupīte, bridges, pavilions, the Ķirzaciņa sulphur spring, the Love Island rotunda and the formal gardens in front of the former Ķemeri Hotel preserve the atmosphere of the spa resort established here in the 19th century. The park can be explored independently with an audio guide

Views over Ķemeri from the Water Tower

Ķemeri Water Tower stands within the historic spa park and features two viewing platforms at heights of 12 and 42 metres, as well as an exhibition dedicated to the history of Ķemeri. The upper platform offers sweeping views over the pine treetops, the winding River Vēršupīte and the historic spa architecture.

A Walk through Ķemeri Forest Park

The walk can continue into the restored Ķemeri Forest Park, where the historic spa environment gradually gives way to a woodland landscape. The park retains its historic network of paths along the River Vēršupīte and includes walking and cycling trails, picnic areas and nature interpretation points.

Two restored stone bridges crossing the River Vēršupīte lend the area a particularly evocative character and rank among the park’s most romantic and visually striking features.

Beyond the Festival Centre – the Nature of Ķemeri National Park

Visitors wishing to step away from the festival centre for a while can venture deeper into the landscapes of Ķemeri National Park. The Great Ķemeri Bog, wet forests, lakes, dunes, meadows and sulphur springs offer an entirely different rhythm – quieter, slower and closer to nature. It is an opportunity to continue discovering Ķemeri beyond the historic spa centre through a walk, birdwatching or simply an unhurried moment in the natural landscape.

Before travelling to the Ķemeri Festival, please note that Ķemeri is located outside Jūrmala’s special access zone. However, when visiting event locations elsewhere in Jūrmala, a daily entry pass costing EUR 5.00 must be purchased to enter the zone. The pass is valid until 23.59 on the date of purchase.
